Paolo Parini has been Professor in Clinical Chemistry at the Karolinska Institutet since May 2012. His professorship is shared between the Dept. of Laboratory Medicine and the Dept of Medicine. He coordinates the Cardio Metabolic Unit at the Karolinska Institute. Paolo Parini also holds the position of Director of Research & Development, Education and Innovation at the National and International Affairs, Karolinska University Hospital. He is member of the International Scientific Advisory Board of the Dutch Heart Foundation, member of the Faculty Council and academic coordinator of the Network Medicine Alliance at the Karolinska Institutet, national representative for Sweden in the European Association for Predictive, Preventive & personalized Medicine. Between 2018-2021 Paolo Parini has been member the Executive Committee and Treasurer of the European Atherosclerosis Society. From 2008 to 2020, he was the Swedish national representative in the Scandinavian Society for Atherosclerosis Research (SSAR). He is holding a Visiting Professorship at in the Div of Cardiovascular Medicine, in the Dept of Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital and at Harvard Medical School during 2022. As Senior Consultant, Paolo Parini still see patients with rare and complex dyslipidemias at the Medicine Unit Endocrinology, Theme Inflammation and Ageing, Karolinska University Hospital.
