Alexandros D. Tselepis, MD, PhD Professor of Biochemistry-Clinical Chemistry University of Ioannina, Greece Director of the Atherothrombosis Research Centre of the University of Ioannina, Greece Alexandros D. Tselepis was born in 1954 in Heraklion Crete, Greece. He has graduated in Pharmacy from the School of Pharmacy, University of Thessaloniki and in Medicine from the Medical School, University of Ioannina, Greece. He obtained his PhD in Clinical Biochemistry in 1986 from the University of Ioannina, Greece. His research studies continued with a Postdoctoral Fellowship (Fogarty, NIH) at the Pathology Department, University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, TX, USA (1988–1989). After initial appointments as Assistant and Associate Professor, he took up his current position of Professor of Biochemistry–Clinical Chemistry in the University of Ioannina, in 2006. Professor Tselepis is also the Director of the Atherothrombosis Research Centre of the University of Ioannina. His main scientific interests are in the pathophysiology of Atherothrombosis. He has more than 260 publications at international journals and more than 7,400 citations, whereas his current h-index is 44. He is Editor of the Journal of Atherosclerosis Prevention and Treatment (JAPT), and member of the Editorial Boards of various international journals including Vascular Disease Prevention, American Journal of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, and Platelets. Professor Tselepis has participated in the boards of several scientific societies. Currently he is President of the European and Mediterranean League against Thrombotic Diseases (EMLTD), Member of the EAS Executive Committee, President Elect of the Institute for the Study and Education on Thrombosis and Antithrombotic Therapy and General Sectetary of the Hellenic Atherosclerosis Society.
