New technologies for infant assessment at birth
Abstract
Abstract Body
Heart rate assessment is a cornerstorne in helping babies during neonatal transition and in neonatal resuscitation. Further, it is the primary measure of adequate initial lung inflation and might be a predictor of early neonatal mortality. Previous studies have assessed the time to heart rate assessment as well as the quality of technologies, such as ECG, PO, auscultation, and palpation. While ECG ist still the recommended gold standard as the fastest and most reliable method to detect heart rate and heart rate changes, it still has some limitations. The presentation will introduce new technologies and the current status of development as well as an outlook into the future and importance of research about new technologies.
