In 1998 Patrick Martinsson the founder of MedTech LLC was involved in a car accident that broke almost every bone in his body. Upon recovery from his injuries from the car accident Patrick was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. It was after contracting Diabetes that Patrick found many of the everyday things that he was used to doing all of a sudden became uncomfortable and inconvenient when he had to administer insulin in front of other people. He tried all of the various pens, syringes and other items available on the market. After trying everything on offer Patrick wasn’t satisfied with the items that were available to control his diabetes. Patrick understood that he had to inject insulin to stay healthy. But there was one question, Is there anything smaller and easier to use? If you can’t find it. Create it! With this in mind Patrick set about designing a delivery mechanism with a Diabetics ”lifestyle” needs in mind. The solution needed to fulfill the following criteria: Something discreet and easy to use in public. Easy to carry. Safe to use. Offer greater freedom Something easy to administer anywhere, anytime. Provide better mobility. Patrick Invented and patented the product MiniPen 2, A safety miniature syringe with prevention of reuse.
