Prof. Adesola Ogunniyi is Professor of Medicine and a Consultant Neurologist at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria. He is a member of the African Research on Ageing Network (AFRAN) at the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing, the University of Oxford, UK, and the International Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) Centre at University College London, UK. He has published papers in Nature, The Lancet, and the American Journal of Psychiatry. He is Editor-in-chief for the African Journal of Medicine and Medical Sciences and was an author on the Lancet commission’s 2020 report for dementia prevention, intervention, and care. He is also a member of the World Federation of Neurology Research Group on Dementia and is the Council Chair for the African Stroke Organisation. Prof. Ogunniyi was awarded a neuroepidemiology fellowship at the NIH, Bethesda, MD, and is an expert in epidemiological methods. He has almost 30 years’ experience of conducting, leading, and advising on community-based research involving older people and their caregivers. His research focuses on the burden and determinants of neurological disorders from cross-cultural, community perspectives, spanning Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, and epilepsy.
