Session Description
Dysbiosis of Gut Microbiome in the Parkinson's Disease, a Novel Perspective of Diagnosis and Intervention - SUPPORTED BY Green Valley Pharmaceutical

Session Description

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a common neurodegenerative disease, clinically characterized by dyskinesia and pathologically characterized by the chronic death of dopaminergic neurons in the midbrain substantia nigra. At present, the pathogenesis of PD is still not well understood, and clinical treatment mainly focuses on symptom improvement. In recent years, clinical and basic research has provided evidence indicating that Parkinsonian neurodegenerative changes are often accompanied by gastrointestinal symptoms and precede damage to the central nervous system and that there is a strong correlation between gut microbiome dysbiosis and PD. As a result, a theory of the intestinal origin of PD has emerged, which suggests that PD originates in the gut and evolves by mechanisms based on the gut-brain transmission of α-synuclein and inflammation. A better understanding of the role of gut microbiome dysbiosis plays in the development of PD will provide novel perspectives on the pathogenesis of PD and novel strategy for the development of disease-modifying interventions. Therefore, the key topic of this symposium will be "Dysbiosis of Gut Microbiome in the Parkinson's Disease, a Novel Perspective of Diagnosis and Intervention". Top experts in the field of PD clinical and basic research will be invited to share the latest research progress on the role of dysbiosis of gut microbiome in the on-set and progression of PD, as well as the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic methods for PD by targeting gut microbiome. By gathering the latest research advances, we aim to facilitate the exchange of ideas so as to promote gut microbiome research in the field of PD.
